@gembo: 6 Labour + 2 Green; need 1 more - hopefully Adam McVey in favour?

The wee one's keen to join in, so we'll do the school run by tandem, via Charlotte sq on Monday.

Presume the idea is to symbolically meet at Bute House?

If so, can it be added here -

"Once into Grosvenor Crescent, tricky manoeuvre to cross traffic coming along Lansdowne Crescent to stay on Grosvenor,
Similar tricky manoeuvre exiting Grosvenor Crescent with 2-way traffic on Lansdowne,"

Personally, I'd use Lansdowne and avoid these manoeuvres. Since Grosvenor isn't the current route, you don't really need to demonstrate the issues getting on/off it.

Not sure the police will like an unannounced gathering outside there. I'd stick with meeting at West Register House.

    "

That’s not how many cyclists see it – and Mark Ames, of consultancy Strategic Cities, says Sydney is going against the flow of other world cities. “Making your city efficient should be above party politics, cycling is not really a right versus left thing, yet here in Sydney it is kind of seen as being a lefty, hippie, latte-sipping city thing, not something important,” he says.

@erob - Grosvenor is the proposed route which is why we'll be going that way - unless concensus is otherwise.

@chdot - sorry I just copied "North end of Charlotte Square" from Hankchief's blog. I've edited the description now but very tricky as I'm on mobile and very busy...

I'll be there, probably with my 9 month old on a long diversion to her Granny's!

Recommend West Register House. Security issues with Bute House and WRH is were I always used to sit at the West End as a courier :-)

Re Adam McVey, fairly certain he'll be supporting Option A, so we only need to convince one more? Or is that a majority already?

Lots of papers released by CEC

    http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/download/1067/roseburn_to_leith_walk_cycle_route

No time to read them though...

Quick skim of the consultation on the revised plans: all the businesses support Option B as it will maintain their illegal parking customer loading.

Quick skim of traffic modelling suggests about an extra minute on journeys on A8; biggest increase would be because the Roseburn Gardens rat-run is closed off. Little impact forecast on public transport.

I see @algo has brilliantly renamed Harts Cyclery to Hart's Cutlery. I move that we make this change official.

    Gee, thanks, LS...

Living Streets is pleased that both options address concerns over
conflicts a floating bus stop on Roseburn Terrace would have created
    between pedestrian and cyclists.
 However, Living Streets say 16 other concerns raised have not been
addressed. This includes the narrow footway on Roseburn Terrace,
elimination of the eastbound bus lane from Roseburn to Coates
Gardens and insufficient additional Zebra type crossings.*
 Living Streets also commented that they completely reject the plan for a
cycle route along Princes Street, which they believe, would create
unmanageable conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians.

Apparently no unmanageable conflicts between buses and taxis and pedestrians on Princes Street...

Interesting that the report mentions the two local petitions. One, in support, organised by 'Henry Whaley, a member of spokes'. No mention of who organised the other local petition.

Was the other local opposing petition organised by Peter Gregson, who is a member of spokes?

Nor with the trams, complete with floating tram stops.

Rather nicely, the traffic modelling suggests a worst-case of a 1 minute increase on A8 traffic.

One of PG's objections was that the direct route would only save a minute for cyclists. So he can't really complain if there is only a one-minute delay for drivers surely?
